About the Camps

The Blue Hen Baseball Camps are conducted by the University of Delaware coaching staff members as well as other area college and high school baseball coaches. Our staff members are hired to provide a high quality of adult supervision necessary to ensure the safety and security of all campers in attendance at our camps. We emphasize that we operate our camps using no greater than a 10:1 instructor-to-camper ratio, allowing us to provide each camper with quality baseball instruction as well a safe environment in which to develop their baseball skills.

All-Skills Camps for Baseball

Our all-skills camps provide a great opportunity for learning valuable fundamental skills necessary for enhancing your child’s ability to play the sport of baseball. Small instructor-to-camper ratios allow for individual attention to each camper and direct instruction is focused on the campers’ needs. Kids will learn many aspects of these sports including:

  • Hitting
  • Pitching
  • Fielding
  • Throwing
  • Baserunning

A station-to-station format provides all campers the chance to be educated in the fundamentals of all of the above skills. The campers will also get to enjoy a swimming session in the middle of the day, giving them a nice break from the heat and a chance to cool off! After returning from the swim session, the campers will then be assigned to teams for competitive scrimmage games that take place every afternoon.

Instructional Hitting Camps (for boys age 13 to high school seniors)

The instructional hitting camps are skill specific camps designed to completely emphasize different techniques and approaches to hitting. This camp focuses a tremendous amount of time on developing good hitting mechanics. All players develop an understanding of the type of hitter he needs to be as he prepares to compete at the higher levels of baseball.

Instructional Pitching Camps (for boys age 13 to high school seniors)

The instructional pitching camps are skill specific camps designed to completely emphasize different techniques and approaches to pitching. This camp focuses a tremendous amount of time on developing good pitching mechanics. Time will also be spent educating young pitchers about how to grip and throw different pitches. Please be informed that these camps do not involve an extensive amount of throwing and will not be detrimental to anyone's summer baseball pitching schedules.
